ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING HCHS MEMORIAL
Nick Rhodes announced recently: They have started building the memorial and it should be completed in a week or so weather permitting. I should clarify that the “hardscapes” part of it will be done (bricks, pavers, walls). There is still some signage, landscaping etc. to add but we will need more money to do that. We have raised over $42,000, the lion's share of which will go to the landscape contractor and the brick engraver. We have estimated that we will need an additional $8-$10,000 to complete the rest of the memorial. If you have not already donated to help with the building of the HCHS Memorial we encourage you to do so. Contact Nick to order a personalized brick or to donate funds. Thanks.

Bobbie Arnold Wells Update August, 2010….still live in rural DeKalb county---all three sons live in Auburn and visit occasionally. My daughter lives in Arlington, VA---the view from her pool is the Reagan airport across the river---I can float on my back in the pool and watch planes take off every three minutes…..I really have done that. She just got back from Thailand and Cambodia and was lucky to get out of the country due to political uprisings. She is a budget analyst for The US Justice Department. Sold my condo in downtown Fort Wayne and am buying a house in Sebring, Florida---plan to go there after the class reunion in September for the winter. I really need to quit my job at the newspaper. I’m getting too old to drive almost 80 miles a day---did get a speeding ticket this week---bad. My husband is not willing to give up the house in the country, but I am trying to convince him he can still have a good time in Florida. Hope…to see you…in September. (Gee, there ought to be a song.) Bobbie Previous: Still married to the same man for 38 years now. Even though he has retired, we are still married. My only respite is that I get away five days a week so he can do whatever he wants. He has pretty much narrowed it down to playing his flute, shooting handguns, spending time with his English bulldog Jasper and thinking about doing repair jobs around the house. Oh, yes, he says he rides his bicycle, too. We bought some additional ground and a bank barn out behind our house so hopefully this spring he can spend some time out there trying to figure out what to repair next, the only thing is those repairs always end up costing money. Our oldest son Vincent plans to use the barn to store equipment he uses in his business. Hopefully he might do some work too. Our second son Tony is trying his hand at selling. I bet it’s a real hoot to see him in action. He has been doing some traveling. Our youngest son, Sean, still works for Vincent, which is not an ideal situation, but that’s what he does. Good ole brotherly love. Justine has one more semester at Purdue and then it is back in the U.S. Air Force, God only knows where. Her degree will be in business/finance/accounting, and I have no idea where that might take her. She has been doing her dream list but there are no guarantees. She talked about going to law school, but right now I think she is just a little tired of school in general. I am still at The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne. Which reminds me, the picture in our yearbook shows the stairway of The Journal Gazette and I come up those stairs every day. |

September, 2008: Still working at The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne. My husband is still retired and enjoying himself with his hobbies. Not thinking about any moves anywhere at the present. I still have a condo downtown, close to work. Like most cities Fort Wayne is trying to revitalize things---I sure hope it works. Our three sons live close to home and our daughter has been in Arlington, Virginia for going on three (3) years and has bought a condo so I think she wishes to stay for a while. Here are photos from my recent visit:
2010 is coming soon.

Ron Bennett I have been married to Beth Briles (graduated Montpelier High School) for 38 years. We now live in Naples, Florida (2009) We have two children, Rhonda and Ryan. Rhonda is married had has two boys - Mitchell, age thirteen, and Micah, age eleven. Rhonda and her family reside in Hartford City. Ryan is unmarried and lives in Naples, Florida. I spent four years in the Air Force (1961-1965). I returned to Hartford City and for the past thirty-five years I have worked for a fastener company in Montpelier. I have been a supervisor for the past thirty years. Beth is a hair stylist and has her own salon in Gas City. I never realized there was so much money in "vanity!" Anyway, I plan on working for a couple more years, and then hope to go south towards Naples to let our son support us for a while - seems only fair! |

Bob and JoAnn Bridge Update: July, 2010 - JoAnn wrote that their daughter, Betsy has moved to Portland, Oregon, has a great job there and is very happy!! Updated March 2, 2009: Bob and I have been living in Mexico, Indiana now for over 20 years. We moved here when Bob got the head football job at North Miami High School in Denver, Indiana (this is about 12 miles north of Peru, Indiana.) He still teaches social studies at North Miami and is an assistant football coach at a neighboring school, Southwood (south of Wabash). He considered retiring this year but still enjoys the classroom so he is going to keep going year by year. He never wants to stop coaching and would just as soon be buried on the 50 yard line (that is probably not surprising to some of you!) I taught 5 years (4 at Montpelier, Indiana High School and 1 in Spenser, Indiana down by Bloomington) and have been a substitute ever since. I still sub some---I guess as long as Bob keeps teaching, I'll sub---(the kids adore Bob and are a little afraid of him and don't want to upset him by giving me trouble! So, he's kind of my discipline!) We have one daughter, Betsy, who was quite a surprise as we had given up--I was 38 when she was born. She is a joy to us. She's smart, funny, caring, and totally involved in the world affairs. She graduated from Butler University in 2002 and from the University of Oregon law school last year. She has a job working for the Idaho conservation league in Boise. Environmental law was her primary interest. She loves her job, Boise, and the people she works with. She's into hiking camping, cross country skiing, biking, and that type of stuff (no idea where she gets those interests)! Much as she loves Boise, she's not thrilled with their politics. She would love to get back to Oregon (there's a boyfriend in Portland) but that requires a job there. Bob's parents are both gone now. His brother, Bill, teaches law at southern Methodist in Dallas. He's never married and has no children and has always maintained a close relationship with Betsy. My father died in 1988 and my mother stayed in their home until about 5 years ago when she was forced to go into assisted living at Heritage Commons in Hartford City. When she got bad, I moved her up close to us to a nursing home, Caring Hands, out at the air force base. She died there one and a half years ago and is buried with my dad at the Eaton cemetery. I miss her very much but at 92, she was both physically and mentally gone. It made it easier to lose her. One interesting sidelight to this story is that Bob Lanning and his wife bought her house and have done a lot of work on it. That also made it much easier to see the house taken care of and to have a standing invitation to stop in. I did that frequently for a while because I was close friends with mom's next door neighbor and would go visit her (in my grandmother's old house). That lady died last year so I’m not there very much---no more family there. I guess this is more than enough info on us. The miracle is probably that Bob and I are still together! I imagine that surprises many of you---me too! Hope to see many of you at the next reunion!

Kay Brose Rogers In a recent letter, Kay sent the photos below and had the following to say (I don't think she'll mind if I share): As far as a bio on me - what's to say??? I'm retired from teaching and loving it. The picture with Daddy was taken in Michigan City when we were all there for sister Joe's daughter's wedding. It was a wonderful family time. Our son, John, from Orlando, FL, was with us, and our daughter, Lisa with her husband, John, and our grandson, Alan, from Laurel, MD were all with us too. Late breaking family news - Lisa is expecting again - a girl this time, who will be named Maggie Kay (bet she's a live wire!). Sister Linda has taken a job in Omaha, Nebraska. She just moved out last week. Sadly, Daddy had a bad fall and broke his hip. He's had surgery and is now into rehab in Upland. He is 94 and its not an easy thing to see him in such pain. Of course, he is such a dear, and all the nurses and therapists love him. Carolyn and I are doing our best to keep his spirits up. Carolyn, by the way, is doing well - her cancer is in remission and we pray she stays healthy. I am hoping the reunion is a success and lots of us attend. Love, Kay Note: Sadly, Paul Brose passed away on Monday, October 28, 2002...our deepest sympathy goes to Kay, Carolyn, Linda, Jo and their families...we all loved Paul.

Update - August 2010: Suzanne and I are still loving the retirement thing. Thirty five years in administration/education was enjoyable and challenging at times, but the retirement element is even better. "Time does fly when you're having fun" I guess. We continue to play in Indiana during the spring and summer months and retreat to our Florida home during the winter to avoid the ice and snow. We miss the kids, Jeff and Renee, Juli and Mark, and our precious grandchildren, Bailey, Myles, and Miranda while in Florida but manage to lure them to Florida when all of the school schedules work out. Not nearly often enough I'm afraid... The reunion this year falls on the one weekend that causes us a major problem. Our granddaughter, Miranda, who lives in Lousiville will celebrate her birthday on September 18th. We have made spending the weekend closest to her birthday with her in Kentucky a treasured tradition which we are very reluctant to change. If something works out for us to be back in Indiana during any of the reunion/birthday weekend, we'll be seeing everyone. If it doesn't work out, please know that we'll be thinking of all of you and praying for you helath and safety during your travels. ------------- Suzanne and I are both retired from the education game - me from elementary administration and Suzanne from teaching. We really loved our thirty some years in education, but we were ready to do a little traveling and some serous playing with our three delightful grandchildren, Bailey, Miranda and Myles. We both still enjoy Indiana during the spring and summer months, but we retreat to our Florida home during the winter months to avoid the ice and snow. The only downside to the time in Florida is missing our son Jeff and his wife Rene, our daughter, Juli, and those precious grandchildren. We fell tremendously blessed and are enjoying retirement.

Ron Cole Married Dixie Main from Eaton in 1963. Ron attended Bible College in St. Paul, MN, graduating in 1967. Took a small church in Marinette, WI, where they remained for 3 years. Accepted an assistant pastor position in Madison, WI, where their two boys were born. They spent 13 years in Sterling Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula. While there, their church burned and they not only rebuilt a $250,000 church without ever borrowing a dollar, but Ron was also involved in establishing a volunteer fire department where they did everything – fire, rescue, search and rescue, emergency medicine, air medics, etc. He resigned in 1990 and Ron and Dixie moved to Grand Rapids, MI, then back to Hartford City seven years ago. Ron’s father had died and his mother needed some help, so Ron and Dixie moved back into the house Ron grew up in. He has retired from full-time ministry and is now working for McCammon Trucking in H.C., something he always wanted to do. They have one son and two grandsons who moved back to Alaska and their other son recently graduated from West Mich now lives in Grand Rapids where he is employed by Blackmer Corp.

Larry Cunningham It always takes me a while to catch up, and this electronic stuff will probably fail me or me it. Anyway, I have some recent pictures of my clan I will share, but don't know if I can do it. My experts are away from home, one a marine in the Middle East and the other in college in Rhode Island. There are two others, one's married and the youngest is playing football in high school. I’m still driving planes around. I spend way too much time in and out of Chicago, before that it was New York and before that Boston. I'm working for United and will for as long as they hold together or I turn 60 (August) whichever comes first. Laura, the love of my life, is still putting up with me and I guess I'll stay married as long as she wants me to be. We’ve lived in NH since the mid 70's. She and all the kids talk funny, and they just humor me. For those of you who remember my parents, attached is a photo of me and Art. He made it to almost 90 (note he is still giving me $). Maud however died of cancer in 1987. My brother Frank is still in Toronto Canada with the university, and Candy, 7 years our junior, lives in Indy with husband #2 and daughter.

Henri (Hank) Evans
When I left HCHS, I was just hoping to make it to college...I had no clue what I wanted to be when I grew up, I just knew that I did not want to wash cars for a living, although I still enjoy cleaning my cars...and I have a few. I graduated from Purdue on time in 1964, much to the amazement of just about everyone, including me...I still had no clue. While at Purdue I was in the Band, and that has turned out to be a real anchor for me as I have stayed very close to the program and I marched with the Band at the Rose Bowl in 2001, having missed the trip in 1965, I figured they would go again, yeah, right...34 years later. I spent the first 5 years after Purdue teaching and coaching high school in New Jersey and Indiana...also gave Graduate school a shot, but did not finish. Still had no clue what I wanted to do, but knew that teaching, while rewarding emotionally, was a disaster financially...I moved on to the Automobile Industry...first at Buick Motor Division and then as a dealer in California.
They say timing is everything...my auto career came to an end in about 1974-75 as the industry collapsed along with my life savings, such as it was. I limped back to Indiana and considered teaching again ...at least that was safe, right? The next 5-6 years are a little blurry, because I moved and changed jobs a bunch. In that time, I worked for a very large Travel company (St. Louis) and traveled just about everywhere... China and Russia included, some really nice places as well. Revlon, the cosmetic company (Chicago, DETROIT and back to Chicago)...I had 35 young women working for me...all between the ages of 21 and 26...for those of you who know me well, this was a real challenge...me and a bunch of really pretty women...out of college, that I recruited and trained...Oh, Boy. That I survived this at all is a minor miracle. It drove me to drink, so to speak...I went to work in the Adult Beverage Industry...First for the Bacardi, then Heublein, and finally, Schieffelin and Somerset in New York....It took me almost 20 years to move right back to NJ and commuting 2 hours and 10 minutes one way into the City. I handled the National Accounts, such as Airlines and Hotels and National Resturant Chains. I did this for 13 years...I really liked the interface with the customers and I traveled a ton...Like round trips between NY and LA on the same day. Calling on the airlines took me to the far corners of the earth and that was always interesting. I've seen it all, or at least most of it. I left S&S in 1997 and bought the Houlihan's Restaurant Group, which I ran for a few years and finally retired in 2000, sort of. I'm now consulting and doing Performance Improvement workshops and I finally realized,,,Teaching and the classroom is where I belong...It only took me 42 years to get it right and figure out what I wanted to be, but better late than never. Along the way, I've been married 3 times...the last one took...18 years this April...No kids, just never felt I wanted the responsibility of someone else's life on me...Hell, I couldn't get it figured out ...how do I guide somebody else? So what do I do now? Play golf, collect cars..Buicks, no surprise. I like boats and I've had a few. I run some as well and still play basketball, and I'm no better than I was in the NOON League in 1959! Vicki, my wife works for a medical company and I have no clue what she does or how she does it...just to complicated, but she likes it and it keeps her busy and I don't bother her too much; which is good, because I also figured out that I'm best in small doses....My two former wives would, I'm sure back me up on that one. Life is a nice pace here in Jacksonville and anyone is welcome to visit...we have a lot of room and you can always get your car washed...I still like to do that. Here are the totals: Lived in 17 states, 15 jobs, I think...3 wives, two cats and more fun than I deserved. Here is wishing you all good health, let me hear from you, I have a wealth of information that is mostly worthless, but I'll share. Be Well, Henri More photos from Hank are HERE

Toni Griffey James UPDATE - AUGUST 2010: Toni writes: Thank you so much for keeping me in the loop on what is going on with classmates from H.C. Enjoyed spending time on the 1960 website and catching up with how and what everyone is doing these days. I also wanted to send heartfelt sympthy to all of the spouses and friends of the classmates no longer with us. I noted that I had not posted an update since sometime around 2004. Thanks to your unselfish effort on behalf of the Class of 1960, I have been able to reconnect with some of my old high school friends. I do not believe I will be able to make it to HC in time for re-union since I was recently there to spend a few weeks time with my father. He was 90 this year and still going strong for his age. Just hope I ended up with some of those genes. I will be back in HC later in the Fall but regrettably not in time for the reunion so I will be looking forward to the update and photos on the website. In 2005 I decided to make my retirement home on the Coast of Alabama in Daphne, which is located just 3 miles North of Fairhope and just across the bay from Mobile. This area is an Art Community with Nationally known writers, painters and potters living in the area.. I recently learned that our County's largest cash crop is Flowers. We have something blooming every month of the year so that added to blue skies, sunshine and the Gulf Coast 20 miles south makes every look like a picture from a magazine. Surprisingly we are not "tropical" and have the hard and soft wood trees we lived with in Indiana...I do bellieve this area is the "best kept secret". I discovered it only from an article in Money magazine in 2004 as one of the best 10 places to retire. One visit was enough to completely win me over as is the story repeated from most people who have relocated. We fortunately did not suffer as much damage from the oil spill as we could have but the national coverage of it curtailed business about 75%. Hopefully the snow birds will come back for the winter ,expecially the Indiana Snow Bird Club. If you have not known of or taken a trip to Southern Alabama bring those Northern $$$ our way this year.... I am blessed with good health, great new friends and also enjoy "extended " company from my many Indy friends and especially the cousins Patti Brown and Barbara Elwood from HC. Patti's husband, Gene Brown, passed away this Spring not long after she retired hoping to have time to do all those things put aside because we are to busy. It is hard to understand life's timetable sometimes as it is so easy to delay important things until "tomorrow". Sending my regards to everyone who will be attending the reunion and I will be there in thought and spirit. Anyone coming this way please call ...I would love to play "tour guide"..and have room for a night over for anyone interested. Toni
(Written November, 2002) It was really great reading all of the bios of everyone. I particularly enjoyed seeing the old class pictures along with more recent ones. I could not believe just how many people I had not thought of for all of these years. I fortunately for all concerned do not have a recent picture or at least one that I would be willing to submit. I thought the old graduation picture was dead and buried but thanks to Bari it “lives on”…I was one of those kids who thought it would be great to have enough credits to leave school in January. Once gone it was really difficult to come back even for graduation ceremonies. So now I realize that I missed out on a lot of friendships and reunions. But I still remember Gary Winder calling me “little miss no boobs”. Funny the things that we remember!!! That I had a crush on Bill Cronin (thank God he never knew) and the fun we had at the Doghouse during lunch. Ahhh those were indeed the days…. I married in March 1960 at the ripe old age of 18 and moved to the big town of Upland where my son Jeff was born in November 1961. By 1965 I was single again and moved to Wabash and began working for the City of Wabash as the Manager of the Collection office for the Sanitation Department. It was my first peek into the world of politics and a close up view of the “good old boy system” hard at work. After 3 years in this position, I obtained a bookkeeping position in ‘74 at a newly built nursing home in Wabash. I obtained a Health Facility Administrators license after which I was transferred to Lafayette for about year. I was transferred again to Indianapolis where I have lived since 1977. Little did I know I would spend the rest of my working days in the long- term care industry. I spent the first 10 years “cleaning” up facilities that no one else wanted to touch. Not as noble as it sounds, because if it is really bad then it is awfully difficult to do much more wrong. My son Jeff who is now 40! is a graduate of Purdue with an MBA from SMU, living in Fort Worth since 1985. My grandson Christopher is 8 and for those of you who remember my sister, Sheri, (still living in HC) - she has a daughter, Shelly, here in Indy. Shelly has triplet girls who are also 8. I have had the pleasure of being a very large part of the girls’ lives as they have brought me unforgettable moments of great joy. My parents still live in Hartford City and are in excellent health at 80. I still have the Chick and the Bennett cousins in Hartford City and since we all grew up together in an Italian family; they are more like siblings than cousins. My hobbies over the years have been numerous. I am an avid reader, have been a health food nut since the early 1980’s (haven’t tasted a hamburger for over 20 years), a determined explorer of alternative medicines and Eastern culture. I love to design perennial flower gardens, have made extensive trips to Europe, falling in love with France and studying the language for the last 10 years. I still enjoy cooking and entertaining, I study the computer and my talking cell phone as time permits and try to keep my mind as stimulated as possible. Yes… I have been married more than once! But now I live with two big Ragdoll cats. With the 4 eight year olds in my life, my family, my friends and my cats, I am “finally” a happy, healthy, contented 60 year old. I’m looking forward to my golden years in hopefully good health and a lot of hobbies to keep me busy. Several years after arriving in Indy, I was fortunate enough to work for a privately owned corporation as their Director of Operations for 10 nursing homes. In 1985 I had the chance to lease 3 nursing homes which I operated for number of years. During the this time I obtained a Real Estate Brokers license and dabble in real estate as a hobby to take off some of the stress of the health care field. I bought properties that were major rehab projects, lived in several for a few years while working on the next project. My favorite was a house built in 1876, where I lived for 10 years. 2 years ago I decide big was not better and moved to a home I owned in the same neighborhood. This house built in the early 1920’s it was one of my 1990 projects that had sat empty for 15 years. Hopefully I am settled for another 10 years.. I tried to retire in 1993, went back to work in 1996, retired again in 1999 and back again in 2001. I guess I am not content without a project. So now I finally figured out how to work from home and am the Executive Director of the Indiana Medical Directors Association - an organization for physicians who practice in long-term care. Also about 18 months ago I started Smart Specialty Apparel, Inc.; a DME Company. The retail site is known as the Ivy Cottage, there we sell specialty health care products. SSA , the nursing home business, is booming as we dispense shoes to nursing home patients under the Medicare Diabetic shoe program. We cover most of Indiana. If we are not the largest supplier in the State, we will be within the next 6 months. Those 30 years in the nursing home business was not in vain after all. I have one more week of classes at the Milwaukee Medical College and then I will be ready to sit for my Boards next spring to become a certified pedorthist. So you see I too have had a difficult time trying to decide what I am supposed to do when I grow up! I am going to try to find some time to get some pictures together now that we are in that age of digital everything. I hopefully will be able to share some of my past 40 years with those who have shared their years with me through the web page. Thanks again Bari, what a great thing to do for all of us…you make us young again for a few minutes….God Bless you.

Jennifer Hanna McClurg September 12, 2010: Dear Bari (and class of ’60) It has been truly great to speak to you and Sarah over the past week. How quickly 50 years has passed! I don’t know about you guys, but my brain is still 18 unfortunately the body struggles to keep up but where there’s a will there is a way!! I last visited Opal (Opal and Chuck Lord were my host parents during my exchange student year at HCHS) in Sept 2001 for a week and was due to fly out of Chicago on 9/11 so I was with her for an extra 3 days. On my return home it was confirmed my husband had throat cancer and as further operations and valium were pointless, he passed away Dec 5, 01. I had to rethink my life fairly quickly and for the past 9 years I’ve had a brilliant life. I have great friends and 2 super kids – Stuart, my son, lives and works in London (not married) and Deborah, my daughter, is married to David, who is from Rhode Island and they now live back in Belfast. They lived in New York, Berkeley and San Francisco for quite a while so over the years I’ve been to the USA on several occasions. I certainly have had some great fun. When Opal passed away in March, 2010, her son, “KM” did let me know, but Ken also wrote to me not knowing whether I was still in touch with “KM” – it was very thoughtful of him – Opal did mean a lot to me. As a result of several letters and phone calls, Ken and I met up in New York City for a week – what a blast from the past that was and what fun catching up on 50 years of life. I’m sure he will fill you in with all the news! I will be in Florida for the month of October with friends from here, so I guess Ken will visit us at some point. I really am sorry I cannot be with you at the Reunion, but maybe someday I’ll get to visit some of you. Have a really fun time together and although I’m not there in body, I will be in spirit. Love to All From Jennifer

Bari Huggins DuBois In 1970 I married Jim DuBois (graduated HCHS in 1964). We moved from Indianapolis to New Hampshire in 1984 (restored two 18th century houses there), then to Houston, then back to New Hampshire, and then back to Magnolia - just north of Houston in 1996! We have enjoyed all the moving, and wouldn't have missed a single serendipitous adventure, but are now quite happy here where we have lots of deer, many varieties of birds, etc. Our daughter, Chris Hoverd and family live in Indiana. She has two wonderful sons. Daughter, Janis Saikaley and family live in Florida - They have seven beautiful children.* Our family can all be seen on our web site: http://www.cathappy.net/family.htm Sadly, both of my parents are deceased. Jim finally retired from HP in Novemer 2009. He continues to work on clocks and is working on a '56 Porsche Speedster - keeps him happy and out of trouble! LOL I retired in Nov 2006, but am busier than ever. I am involved in animal rescue nationwide, and have been working to better my photography and digital painting skills. My web site development has enabled me to play with photos and content to share with friends around the world. And I do pet photography and pet sitting to make a little "mad" money!. We love cats...couldn't live without our feline friends' purrrecious contribution to life, thus my main website: http://www.cathappy.net They are wonderful at relieving stress and adding joy to every day! We do what we can for animal rescue! We've placed many a furrbaby in loving homes over the years and adopted more than we probably should have (they may outlive us)! I am very grateful to the Lord for His work in our lives. My contribution to Christian witness is my web page: http://www.cathappy.net/witness.htm
*NOTE: FEBRUARY 14, 2010 - WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THE BIRTH OF OUR FIRST GREAT GRANDCHILD, ISABELLA! ABOVE IS OUR FOUR GENERATION PHOTO!

Brooks Jackson Update September 14, 2010 adding the following family photos (click thumbnails and then "back" to this page).
Previous info: Brooks Jackson is
a journalist who covered
Our son Mark, 21, just graduated from
Columbia and who's heading off for Spain in a couple of weeks to learn
Spanish, quickly, in hope that the Peace Corps will take him. He majored
in architecture and hopes to spend a couple years in South America or
Latin America doing some sort of city-planning project. After that:
graduate school and a career (probably underpaid) as an architect. Our daughter Courtney, 26, is in her third year of medical school in Portland, Oregon, where she's lived for the past six years. She plans to come back East for her residency after finishing her fourth year, which makes us very happy. She's great company. And she'll be the first doctor in the family since my Dad retired. My first wife, Beverly, is still my
only. She's running public affairs for the National Institute on Drug
Abuse, which studies why people become addicted, and also tries to spread
the word about such things as how treatment works. Lately they've been
beating the drums to warn people about the dangers of the drug, Ecstasy,
and getting a lot of press. Finally, though we lost my Mom last year, my Dad (whom many of you I know remember) is still going strongly at a nice assisted-living facility in Louisville, KY, near my sister Susan, where Dad moved a few years ago after a stroke that left his left side weak. He's mentally undiminished, but doesn't travel any more and gets back and forth between his apartment and the dinning room using a motorized scooter.

Jonni Jahn Hirsch September 10, 2010: Where does time go? How can it be fifty-one years ago that my family moved to Hartford City and started me in HCHS in the middle of my junior year? I feel like I’m only fifty years old, not sixty-six! Actually, I turn sixty-seven the end of September, but who really cares anymore? At this point haven’t we all learned that age doesn’t matter, just our attitude matters? Then why, oh why, is it that when I stay up really late and my head hits the pillow I don’t fall asleep immediately and am totally frustrated still wide awake at 4AM? Why is it that I push myself to exercise, clean house or prune the shrubs and feel great while I do it and only notice all the aches and pains after I sit down on the sofa for a while and then try to stand up? Why is it that I can take a nap now when that was impossible in my teens when I really needed it? How come when I put my feet in fashionable shoes, I find myself limping in pain the next day? And, where, oh where, did my waistline and chin go? I tried to keep them, but that “daily bread” I asked that I be given all these years has made them disappear. Thank goodness for the floaters in my eyes since it is hard to see anything clearly. And, I won’t even discuss those senior moments. It must have definitely been more fun to BE a “senior” in 1960! Or, so you think… Do you really remember all that much fun? Why would I ask this dumb question you want to know? Well, I have a bunch of letters that I saved from a lot of you during those years just after high school. As I reread some of them recently I realized there was a lot of angst and frustration during THOSE “senior” years. We worried about: finding summer jobs, things to relieve the boredom, whom to date, who was dating whom, were we really in love or not, exhaustion from studying for exams, did we pass our exams, what did our friends think about us and vice versa, was there some trip we could take – maybe to the lake or just anywhere, why did we yearn to come home only to get there and immediately want to go back to where we just came from, what on earth were we going to do with our lives after the next few years, should we get married or not, should we go for a swim at the pool, play golf, go get a few drinks, have a party, watch TV, read a book, listen to music or write Jonni a letter. Maybe it’s not so bad being a senior now! I’ve mentioned this before, but in Retro-spect I am so glad I left a high school of two thousand in my grade in California to enter a small high school instead of the other way around. By the way, as I looked through the Retro I noticed that almost all HCHS teachers had their master degrees. That is amazing for that time period. But more important, are the fond memories I have of meandering home with friends after school, going to basketball games, painting the backdrop for the prom, enjoying two proms, being in a school play, dancing at the sock-hops in the armory, taking a ride to the A&W stand, swimming in the Smith’s gravel pit pool, hanging out at the municipal pool, driving to the lake, watching movies, listening to dreamy music by Johnny Mathis and The Four Freshmen, working on the yearbook and on and on. All of you have memories that go a long way back through twelve years of school together, but I have such special memories of all of you that were made in only a few years. I feel so lucky! Thank you!! So, now that I covered both my/our “senior years”, let me tell you what happened between them. Right after graduation, at age sixteen, I left for a summer in Holland as an exchange student and never came home again for more than two months thereafter. Next, I went to Butler to study art and on the side joined Theta, became Miss Photoflash and was on the Indy 500 Festival Queen’s Court. That ends my claim to fame! I transferred to Cornell University in NY to study home economics my junior and senior years so that I wouldn’t be a starving artist after I graduated. Just as I turned twenty-one I began my first job as the Crafts Designer for Coats & Clark in NYC. The publicity items I sewed and created appeared in all the major women’s magazines but with no designer credit. To make more money and live in something better than a shared studio I worked as a trade association assistant pr director and then became a fashion coordinator for Lyntex. In the meantime, my mom, dad and brother moved back to Banning, California where they continued to live for the rest of their lives. Mom and Dad lived into their early nineties and played golf into their late eighties. They passed away not too long ago. Jay, my brother, has always sold commercial insurance and has two sons in their twenties. We were able to see each other twice a year for a week or two each way. In 1967, at a party in my own apartment, a stranger crashed the party and invited me to go sailing and told me I would marry him. I did and have been married to Richard Hirsch for forty-two years. Brooks Jackson was living in NYC at the time and attended the wedding. Rich and I immediately moved to the suburbs and twice remodeled a tiny brick house set among towering pine trees. He worked in a family printing business and I assisted part-time. Meanwhile we raised two girls, Kimberly and Dannah. Soon I gave myself the title of Executive Vice President of the Hirsch Management Corporation since my job was the purchasing of household goods and clothing items, financial planning and estate management, health maintenance, developing programs for academic advancement and, mainly, setting up time management and waste removal projects. In my spare time I sailed on our boat in Long Island Sound, played tennis with the same partners for thirty years, created large English gardens to soothe my soul, sewed drapes and bedspreads, learned how to make goat yogurt for the daughter with a cow’s milk allergy and on and on. Time flew by. Soon our girls went off to college at Skidmore and Duke and our house became too big for the two of us. We moved to a beautiful condo set on an old golf course in Chappaqua, NY. Here I was in my fifties and feeling purposeless. I decided to get my masters in art education. I could hardly remember how to spell and my hands cramped as I took notes for my three-hour courses. My brain strained to remember every thing for all the exams. After all that I only taught for three years at a different school each year, one of which was a private school for learning disabilities. By the time I was done (and, I mean really done in), I had taught all twelve grade levels plus kindergarten. I was too old to teach 600 students a week in six classes a day with ten minutes between classes to clean up and start another project. Classroom management was hell. I took the easy way out and went to work as a volunteer docent/guide for a local art museum and soon began a part-time job as their office manager. Now that was a great job for my age. I shared it with another energetic docent and we covered for each other when we went on vacation. Meantime, Rich sold his business and did something he always wanted to do. Before he retired he had build over eighty new homes and raced Miata’s with his brother. Kimberly moved to San Francisco and opened her own graphic design and interior design firms, but the present economy has really hurt her business. She also went back to school for four years to study energy healing concentrating on fertility/pregnancy clients. So far, no husband, but she has a really lovely cat. Anybody know of a terrific Renaissance man in the SF area? For a while we figured that we would only have two grandcats. Our other daughter, Dannah, continued at Duke for medical school for 4 more years and then moved to San Francisco for her residency at UCSF in Child Psychiatry (5 more years). She opened her own practice in Corte Madera just across the Golden Gate Bridge. She met another doctor, a radiologist, through Match.com and they had a destination wedding in Maui last year. Hunter, our first grandchild, was just born and we spent plenty of time giving him lots of love this summer. And, since both our daughters are on the west coast we moved to California last year! We are located in the desert in La Quinta about forty-five minutes from Palm Springs. Can’t believe Rich wanted to move away from the water. It is a new 55+ retirement community called Trilogy and we love it here. The weather is so beautiful even in the summer and it is sunny every day. San Diego is two hours away, LA is three hours away and snow falls only on the distant mountains. We remodeled the house, had Kimberly decorate it and turned the backyard into a Mediterranean garden. And, golf and tennis are almost in our backyard. So, as you can tell, we have been very busy lately with a lot of expenditures. We had a fall trip already planned to visit Rich’s siblings and our friends in New York. I am so sorry and sad not to be able to come to the Reunion. It would be so much fun to chat with you all, but I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the bios and viewing all the videos that Bari has set up for us. My heart has felt your sorrow and shared in your joys. But, it isn’t be the same as seeing you and talking for hours though. Hartford City is a hard to get to place from here and when I looked into the travel arrangements I would be spending almost a $1000 for flights, car rental and motels. Seems impossible doesn’t it. Not that I don’t think you all are worth it, but maybe you would rather come for a vacation reunion with me here in sunny California some winter. J Have a great time and keep me up to date on all the new news!

Ken Kraning Update - August 2010: As many of you know, I lost my beloved Jacki on October 28th, last year - 2009. Forty three years of a perfect marriage. I couldn't have ask the Lord for anything more in my life and I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. In early October 2009, Jacki had open heart surgery to correct a faulty heart valve - the surgery was a total success and we expected her to fully recover. Three weeks after the surgery, the home health care nurse visited on the morning of the 28th of October and told us that Jacki's heart and lungs sounded excellent and that everything was progressing perfectly. That evening, she suffered a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot in her lung and never regained consciousness. We miss her terribly, but thankfully, I know where she is and I know that I will someday be with her again. My days are gradually getting better although it's still hard for me to look at pictures of her and because I'm still living in our home - there are so many things that constantly remind me that she isn't here any more. I know she would not want me to crawl into a hole for the rest of my life and I love being with my boys and their families - both families live within a couple miles of me. So, I am keeping busy working with my boys and their business - www.optikascenic.com - and looking forward to whatever my future holds. After all, I'm still a young man --- on the inside. Here is a link to a video that I made about a month ago that pretty well says what she meant to our family - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBCd4O-o4q0 Hope to see you all at our 50TH CLASS REUNION ..........how can that be? It was our 25th reunion just the other day!?!? My son, Scott just attended his 25th high school reunion last week. WOW!
Previously: I retired from AT&T after 30 years and am running my own consulting business - part time. Computers and software for small businesses. Jacki and I recently moved to Greenville, South Carolina. We have two sons, Jason and Scott. Scott is 33 and got married in April, 2001. Jason, 31, married April 6, 2002. They own a business together in Greenville.

Jayne Major Bishop We have lived in Pittsburgh since 1971. My husband is a Chaplain at Mercy Hospital, which is one of the large trauma hospitals in the city. He has been there for about 20 years and has also been part-time chaplain, or spiritual consultant, for Nursing Home and Hospice. We have 2 daughters. Katy is 28, and
she lives in Cleveland. She graduated from Hiram College in Ohio with a
double major in Drama and Gender Studies. She has worked both here and in
Cleveland as counselor in Domestic Violence shelters for women. Currently
she works for Pre-Term Women's Health Clinic which is essentialy an
abortion clinic. She counsels women thru the procedure, and she has
special expertise for women who are dealing with abuse. She is quite the
feminist activist. Sarah is 25, and she lives in Pittsburgh -- about 20 minutes away from us. She graduated from Ohio Weslyan University near Columbus, Ohio. Her double major was psychology and sociology with an emphasis on child development. For one year following graduation she worked for Ameri-Corp/Vista in conjunction with the Service Learning Department of her alma mater. She essentially developed a literacy/mentoring program for a rural elementary school using college student volunteers to staff it. This program is still going, and she is quite proud of it. She now works as a pre-school teacher and literacy co-ordinator for a Day Care Center in an impoverished area of Pittsburgh. She is quite the "children's activist." I have been working for the past 15 years for Pittsburgh Vision Services (formerly Pittsburgh Blind Association). This organization is a multi-service human services agency serving persons with vision impairment or blindness. Within the agency I have worked in vocational rehabilitation and training programs for all of this time. For the past several years I have managed an Adult Day Program there for persons with multiple disabilities -- mental retardation and vision impairment in addition to other disabilities. This is a program for older individuals who are no longer interested in sheltered or community employment. We are licensed by the Department of Aging ----- so I guess I am getting a lot of practice in "how to be OLD". |

Russell Morris and Judy Vannatter I myself moved to
Rochester NY in my senior year, but I still consider HCHS as my class as I
did attend all the way from Kindergarten at the William Reed with many of
you. Judy and I live in Charleston SC now, the past 25 years. We have Antique shops and I am retired from The Navy as well as Government Secret Service. We plan on returning to HC for the next get together. I have all the grade school pictures I might bring them. Sadly, Russell passed away in 2009. Our deepest sympathy goes to Judy and their family. |

Mike Needler Previous...Attended Hanover College,
BA and Bowling Green State University, MBA. I am currently serving on the
Hanover Board of Trustees. Met my late wife, Susan Cheek, at Hanover and
lost Susan to breast cancer in 1997 after 30 years of marriage. May 26, 2009 update... Dear Class of 1960. When I looked at the original information sent to the HCHS website I was surprised that it was eight (8) years old. Time passes more quickly for us each year. So I want to share this update. I still serve on the Hanover College Board of Trustees as a member of the Executive Committee. Kathy and I will celebrate our eight wedding anniversary this July (09). All four of my children are married and I have eight grand children with one more expected to arrive in August. Two of my daughters, Julie (Eric) Anderson and Allyson (Todd) Perry live here in Findlay. Daughter, Lindsay (Shawn) Turner, reside in Denver, Co. Son, Michael, (Bethany) Needler live in Venice, CA. We now have 33 supermarkets in Ohio and Indiana. Eric and Todd are practically running the company although I tend to stick my nose into the operation now and then. Letting go is a lot harder than I thought it would be. My mother celebrated her 91st birthday on December 9, 2008. We celebrated her 90th last year with a party at the Hartford City Elks Club with nearly 150 attending. It was wonderful to see so many old friends and family. Dave Monfort’s mother was there and I learned later that she and my mother are the same age. Speaking of Dave Monfort, Kathy and I vacationed in Hawaii last year. I called Dave while on the Big Island. He and his wife, Winnie came to our condo for a few hours. He has promised to be at our 50th Reunion (September 18, 2010). I called Winnie and gave her the date. Semi-retirement allows for travel to our condo in Ft. Myers, Florida in the winter and to our summer lake home on Rattlesnake Island in Lake Erie where we enjoy fishing and boating. I am playing less golf now since age has a way of changing how well I play (now a 16 handicap). This past winter I experienced sudden hearing loss in both ears. I have a hearing aid now. You never know what Mother Nature has in store. I have included a few new pictures. Best wishes to all for continued good health and happiness. Mike

Tonya Osborne Morin I can't believe I left Hartford City at the age of 17, went to Minnesota to a short-term school and from there went to Washington, DC to work for the government. My first job was with the Navy Bureau of Weapons on Constitution Avenue. (buildings don't exist anymore). I used to eat my lunch along the reflection pool that you see from the Lincoln Memorial. I also took walks around the fencing of the White House grounds and see the Kennedy's, go to the Pentagon for lunch and see President Johnson (what a big guy). Miss Miller would be very proud as she knew how much I hated her typing and shorthand classes but I grew to love taking shorthand while working for the government. I worked at Headquarters Marine Corps and was there when John Glenn went up in Friendship 7. He was a Marine and he came to see the Commandant after the parade upon his successful return and I shook his hand. Before I left DC in 1967, I was working for the Defense Intelligence Agency, very interesting job and most of the work at that time was with Vietnam. While working at Headquarters Marine Corps, I met a Marine from Rochester, NY, got married, and had two children. Knowing that this contract wasn't forever, I was able to get free after 13 yrs. and met another Rochesterian, a wonderful and caring person and this contract has lasted almost 29 years. Bill just retired from his Commodities Manager job (29 yrs.) at the Eastman Kodak Company. As many of you know, the second time around is the best. We met while working at The National Technical Institute for the Deaf. (we were both trained in sign language). Our daughter Martina (an artist and interior decorator) went to California after college and is now in Charlotte, NC, married with our only grandchildren, Jennifer - 12, Brandon - 9, and Amanda - 6; our son Tony, went to California after high school, traveled halfway around the world, then went to college, married a California girl and is now relocating to Charlotte, NC, and Will, our youngest is on his second career in college (sports medicine) at Elon University in Burlington, NC. My biggest career was being home with my children, but on the sidelines I have done many things. I attended Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College where I took many classes in business, computers, financial accounting, marketing and interior design. Someday my goal is to matriculate all my classes and get that piece of paper. Until then, I will continue my love for quilting, doll making, sewing for my home, designing gardens and enjoy our retirement and our move to the sunny south - Greenville, SC. During the past few years, I was garden docent for the George Eastman House. I also was a tour director for a local company accompanying people on single and multi-day trips, flying with them to other US locations and also to England, Scotland and Wales. It was a wonderful experience, met many wonderful people. Perhaps, I will do something similar in SC. (My parents are both deceased, my older sister, Karen lives in Muncie, my younger sister, Pam lives in Auburn and brother Mike is in Adrian, MI.)

Retirement - who knows?????? ~ ~ ~ Posted 2/20/07: Married Paula Jane Rowe in 1962, still married.
Two children
Bob - 42 ( married, no children)-
computer software specialist
Christy- 39 ( married two children) real
estate
Worked several years in sales, sales
management, marketing, product development and ownership.. All related
to the commercial heating , ventilating and air conditioning business.
Mostly in Knoxville, TN.
Developed a small company called Motor
Control Specialties in Knoxville, TN ( our son still runs this small
venture part time). Developed and sold ( 1994) a small successful Papa
Johns Pizza Franchise in upper East TN. Took a year off and traveled by
car and camper to the Yukon and Alaska, California, Colorado, of course
Florida, etc.
In the fall of 1995 started a
Manufacturers Rep agency in East Tennessee, built a nice business and
sold it in 1998. We moved to Venice FL to retire at least for a while,
I spent a couple of years Salt Water Fishing and we even worked in some
travel over the next two years. Felt I was missing out on business
and medical insurance was getting very expensive, so I went to work for
one of the largest Representative Agency in the US. I ran two offices
for a while, ( Ft. Myers and Tampa), became VP.
By late 2005 I had had all the fun I
could stand and decided to slow down. We moved to Chattanooga, TN.
A friend owns a nice growing company manufacturing products I used to
sell. I work with them in sales and marketing, training, new product
development, and represent the company at industry related functions.
Now I only work up to 40 hours a week compared to 60 or more in the
past.
During all this time, my wife Paula has
been a huge part of our success, she is Treasurer of another small
corporation we own, she was my office administrator in Ft. Myers, and
she put together all the accounting for the Pizza Franchise and the Rep
Agency we developed and sold. I guess I am pretty good at selling, but
she knows how to manage and control the money, it's a good thing,
otherwise I would spend all of it on fishing and traveling.
I still like to fish and bought another
boat, this time a fresh water bass boat. Paula takes care of her 86 year
old mother at our home in Chattanooga. Our children and grandchildren
are close and we enjoy them immensely.
We intend to re-retire in about 2
years, we intend to travel back to Alaska and the Yukon.

Marquita Pontius Chadwick I am widowed and have been for 17 years. Chad (Harold) was only 41 yrs when he died unexpectedly of a 3rd heart attack in June 1984. At the time our son, Jim, was 16+, Sandi was 15+ and Cathy was nearly 11 yrs. We are quite close even though Sandi and her son, Colin, live in Nashville, TN, and Jim and his wife, Eileen, and daughter, Mary Beth, live in Baltimore. Only Cathy lives here in Louisville with her daughter, Cheyenne, as she (Cathy) is in Medical School @ Univ.. of Louisville Med. School. My professional background began when I obtained my RN in '63 from Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. I worked operating room at various hospitals, depending upon where we lived, for 4 years, until we began having a family. Then I was privileged to be a stay-at-home "Mom" for the next 23 years. In 1990, I went to work as an RN Case Manager for the private managed care company here in Louisville that I continue to work for. My specialty is in Transplants and Cancer patients. The work is quite challenging, very rewarding, and is perfect for me, as physically I can no longer handle the hospital setting. Also, along the way, I went back to college, Univ. of Louisville, and earned my BS in business management, which works nicely with what I am doing now. I don't plan on retiring any time soon, if ever, as my work is, in part, the reason I am still able to get around and live independently. Rheumatoid arthritis, my companion of 26+ years, has distorted parts of my body and has forced me to adapt in many ways. Thanks to the many marvels of modern medicine, I am still able to get where I need to be, though it may take me a little longer at times. I was always short, 5'1" max, but now I am even shorter by at least 2". Oh well, such are the ways of life. ~ ~ ~ Update - August, 2010: Since our last reunion, a number of health issues occurred with me that required a reassessment of how and where I should reside. On 3/3/06 I fell and broke my neck in several places (C-1 and C-2) and lived to tell about it. God is truly good and has great purpose in all things. I was in a neck brace for 5 months to ensure good healing. I was then scheduled for a left knee prosthesis revision. On that day prior to surgery I fell again and broke my left hip which was pinned that day. The knee revision was done three day later, followed by several weeks of rehab. It was during this time that my children felt that I should not be living alone and Sandi asked that I move to Nashville (Mt. Juliet), TN, to be with her and son Colin. It has been a wise and wonderful adventure for all of us. It’s been fun being close to my grandson and a part of his many activities of ice hockey, band, scouts and learning to drive. His friends are “cool” and refer to me as Granny. All things considered I am doing well now and remain fairly independent. Cathy graduated this June from her surgical residency at Wright State Univ., Dayton, OH. Now she is doing a 1 year Trauma Fellowship so that she will be board certified to work Level-1 Trauma centers. It’s been a long hard adventure for her with med school, residency and the fellowship as well as having 3 children. Her husband Robert has been very supportive through it all. Son Jim and his wife Eileen and daughter Mary Beth live in Orlando and have been there for around 10 years now and love it. Baltimore’s winter weather finally got to them. Jim is with John Deer, Eileen is an OT with the school system as well as her own private OT business. Mary Beth, like her cousin Cheyenne, is entering her Sophomore year of high school. Colin is a Senior. Willow starts Kindergarten.
The photo above was taken June 2, 2010 at Cathy’s graduation from Surgical Residency @ Wright State, Dayton, OH. First row: Sandi Chadwick, Cathy Chadwick, Willow Samples, myself, Cheyenne Samples. Second row: Colin Chadwick (Sandi’s son), Jim Chadwick (my son), Garon Samples and Robert Samples (Cathy’s husband). Yes the 3 “Samples” kids are hers, ages 15, 4 and 8 months. Jim’s wife, Eileen, and daughter, Mary Beth, were unable to make the celebration due to school final exams.

Dick Powell Dick and Carmel Powell have a lovely home in Bradenton, Florida. Dick retired from Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana with 30 years seniority Dec 21, 1992. Carmel retired from Delco's Credit Union with 23 years seniority. They were drawn to the Bradenton, Florida area and chose it for retirement after yearly visits with friends in the area. Dick has two daughters, Cheryl Keesling and Julie Rainey. Cheryl has two children - Sam, age 13, and Kalee, soon to be 5. Cheryl also has two step daughters. Julie has one daughter, Kenzie, age 13. While living in Indiana, the Powells purchased a home on the "Tippy" chain of lakes and never missed a weekend. Since they had a property on the lakes up North, they decided to do the same in Florida. So, they purchased a 25-foot Bayliner Boat and then went to Coast Guard Boating School, where they met several people with whom they remain friends today. Dick's father, Ralph, retired from Delco Remy and his mother Betty from 3-M in H.C. After Dick's father passed away, Betty purchased a home in Ft. Wayne to be close to her daughter, but after a number of visits to Bradenton, she decided to become a year-round resident too! Dick works part-time at a local auto auction. He picks up cars all over the state of Florida and brings them to auctions that are held each Friday. Carmel worked several part-time jobs after moving to Florida, but has now decided to be a stay at home housewife!

Jim Smith Barbara and I have lived
here in Holland, MI since 1970 and raised 3 boys and 2 girls. Third
generation consists of 2 boys. I spend lots of time traveling all over
both North America as well as Europe so is nice to have the list of names
in order to see if anyone happens to be in the area. I do make it back to
HC now and then as still have family living on the farm. |

Ron Sutton I started with 3M in HC right out of high school. I spent two years at Fort Carson outside of Colorado Springs (Army 66-68). In 1974 I became a Process Engineer with 3M. In 1982 we moved to New Ulm Minnesota with 3M. I worked on a lot of neat projects for them. I retired from 3M in 1998 after 38 years. New Ulm is a small town southwest of
Minneapolis / St Paul about 100 miles. It has a very strong German
influence. It has a sister city in Germany which we have visited. We
should have moved south two years ago and each winter we wonder why we
haven't moved yet. We have no ties other than our house and friends, and
we are not sure where we want to live full time. I married Susan Stoner from Petroleum In.( South of Bluffton) in 1963, and we have been happily married for 38 years. Many of you probably remember her. We lived in HC for 18 years. We have One son, Douglas. He lives in San Rafael, California just north of San Francisco. He works for Industrial Light and Magic doing computer animation for movies. He has his name in the credits on several Movies. He is 31 years old single and we are still waiting for grand kids. Does anyone have any single daughters? He has a nice house and it makes us a nice place to visit when it's cold in Minnesota. However, the drive to California is starting to get longer. My dad still lives On west Kickapoo
Street in the same house I grew up in. He Just had his 81st birthday.
Doing well. My Brother, Virgil lives northwest of HC. They try to keep me
up to date on things happening in Hartford City. |

Friends Forever
In this world things come and go.
With life's twists and turns
it's hard to determine what the future may hold.
The only real guarantee is nothing stays the same,
and least when we expect it our lives are changed.
If by some chance
We happen to lose touch
Please know that I'll be
Thinking of you and missing you very much
So before today ends
I wanted to say
I'm thankful that we're friends
Yesterday and today.
With time and good fortune on our side
I hope that we see forever and stay
FRIENDS FOR LIFE!
